Meet our composers!


Lantz Berets

Lantz Berets brings a diverse background to his compositions. A graduate of Western Washington University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he has served as a bassoonist in the United States Air Force Band program and as a Minister of Music. Now in the music retail business, he finds time to compose, play the bassoon, conduct his church choir and orchestra, and conduct the Debut Orchestra of Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia.

Karen Berets

Karen Berets holds music degrees in oboe from Seattle Pacific University and The University of Washington, and her performance experienced include The Seattle Opera, Seattle Symphony, and Joffrey Ballet. For the last twenty three years Karen has taught band and orchestra at Evergreen Christian School in Olympia.

Kyle Hanks

Kyle Hanks is originally from Santa Barbara, California, and began composing at the age of 13. In both 2009 and 2010 he won the C. Keith Birkenfeld Composition Contest sponsored by the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was mentored by Dr. Samuel Jones, composer-in-residence with the Seattle Symphony. Kyle plans to study composition at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Berets Publications is proud to play a part in the development of this exciting young composer.
